Friendships Matter
I have your back
Sometimes we need to remind people just how much they mean to us. How often have you noticed that friend who is silently sitting in the corner but screaming for you to be that friend who sees their pain? Have you ever told someone ‘You have their back’.
That friend can be:
When a child has a bad day and they can turn to their parents for support. When you have a bad day and you turn to that friend knowing you will get support. If someone close to you pushes you away because they are drowning and want to drown alone, will you be that friend to let them know ‘You have their back‘.
“One of my favourite friendship matters quotes”
Will you have my back?
When life is difficult, determined to get me down will you be that friend who has my back?
Some days there is no time to share, time to listen or time to learn, will you still be there for me?
When mistakes are made, and shame follows, will you be the one in my corner holding me up?
When the laughs are free and growing up is like a challenge, will you be that silly friend by my side?
Will you be that friend that understands why I can feel lonely when I am surrounded by love?
I had a time in my life a few years ago now, in which I found all the friends I had, were fair weather friends and not able to be there when I needed them most. Now days, I find it hard to rely on friends for that support, though I am more than happy to be that friend for others.
Sometimes we only we one friend who will always have your back – no matter what you do.
I’m not sure if I am that friend or have that friend. And that’s not in a bad way about any of my friends, but some of it is distance and different life stages.
Stages can cause distance – I have one of my dearest friends in this situation. But I know if I need her, really need her, she would come running.
Great reminder (and also remembering to let others who have your back be there for you – you don’t have to do it all alone). Thank you x
Absolutely Helen. Well said.
Love that poem, it’s beautiful! I have a few friends who could fit that criteria, and hopefully I fit it for them too!
You are lucky to have a few friends like this..
Now that I’m a little older I find I have a smaller amount of friends, but the friendships I do have are deeper. Nothing wrong with having acquaintances, but a real friend to share joy and sorrow with is very precious.
That’s me Bella. Lots of friends but only a couple that will always be by my side.
I call those friends my 4am friends – the ones you could call at that hour and count on their support. I have about four of them. I think I am really lucky.
Oh I love that Robyna – the 4am friends. I hope if I ever call my friends at that time I get a good reception.
My friendship groups have changed so much since my global move but I’m lucky that I now have friends in two hemispheres who are there through thick and thin and I hope that they know I’m there for them too.
It funny how when you move away, not much actually changes from where you left. You could head back in a couple of years and people will still be doing the same stuff with the same people. Love an adventure.
Such a beautiful poem and so true. As I have grown older my friendship circle has grown smaller but I’d like to think that the ones that remain are true friends who will always be there for me, and me for them, no matter what #teamIBOT
That’s probably the same with me. I have lots of groups of friends but close friends only a small handfull.
Oh what timing. I have just made a point of telling a good friend how grateful I am for her. She gets me. We get each other. Such a wonderful feeling.
That is beautiful Elisa.
