Today I am Thankful
Today I take a few deep breaths as I sit here and write. I am trying to not let the outside pressures enter my soul as I have been working so hard lately to keep my shit together. I am trying to be thankful so I will remind myself why this is true.
I am thankful for my husband
I have been with my Hubby for over twenty years and for the most part we have a great marriage. He is great to sit with at the end of a long day and blow off some steam. He has my back and has supported me through some of my crazy business ideas. He gets on my nerves sometimes but I KNOW I get on his too. A bonus is he loves to cook while I love to eat.
I am thankful for my children
I have four beautiful and healthy children, all of whom I love with my everything. I am struggling with at least one of them on what feels like a daily basis as I now have three teenagers and one who thinks he should be a teenager. I know they all love me but I wish they could understand just how hard it is for me to say NO and to be a parent, especially when I see I have upset them.
I am thankful for my business
I run a small business and love love love what I do. I get to wake up every day and plan the way I want to work. Everyday brings a new challenge and everyday I get a buzz trying to solve each one. I need to market myself to get more clients and grow my business and this requires throwing myself out of my comfort zone with the strong possibility of getting rejected. What I have struggled with is when a client is not paying you for your hard work and your family is relying you for support.
I am thankful for my health
I have never been in a better place in my 40 plus years. I was a sickly child suffering from a rare form of cancer in my jawbone, bulimia and suffering from severe bouts of tonsillitis for years. Today I have the most amazing personal trainer who not only looks after my physical health but supports me mentally too. I have surrounded myself with people who actually care for me – just because I am me.
I am thankful for my family
I am from a big family (three sisters and a brother) with lots and lots of cousins, aunties and uncles. It doesn’t matter if I forget to call someone. It doesn’t matter if we haven’t seen each other in a few months. No one judges me in my family. We support and respect the fact that we are all busy but we all still love each other.
I am thankful for my friends
I am lucky to have friends for different occasions. Some friends support my mental health. Some friends support me through lots of laughter (and often a few too many wines). Some friends support me when I really need them while others support me when I am screaming for help.
What are you thankful for?
